Mentoring and Producing
In the music industry a record producer has many roles, among them controlling the recording sessions, coaching and guiding the musicians, organizing and scheduling production budget and resources, and supervising the recording, mixing and mastering processes. This has been a major function of producers since the inception of sound recording.
As part of the prize package for the winning acts of Summer of Sound, the winning act will be assigned a mentor/producer. These industry professionals will meet with the band prior to recording and will mentor the act through the processes of achieving the best possible product for their studio time. This person will be someone who is experienced in the process of recordings in the winning bands genre.
