Raw Sounds

Raw Sounds on May 1st was an extremely great day with some of the best young local bands including Freak Morice, Gandalf the Grey, The Strange Few, Spec 2 C, Dunsinane, and Birds of Prey tearing up the stage with some more extablished bands The Map Project, Spacifix, and The Floating Bridges. A great relaxed crowd of young and old came and enjoyed the free music on offer. Thanks to the Sunshine Coast Drink Safe Coalition and numerous event sponsors and volunteers who helped to make RAW SOUNDS a huge success!

RAW SOUNDS – May 1st Saturday

Put it into your diaries, Raw Sounds is on the first Satuday of May. Postponed due to poor weather Raw Sounds plans to be a celebration of young people and live music!
Spacifix and The Map Project will still headline the event which runs from 10am until 4pm. Its going to be a jam packed day and its all free!
Raw Sounds Postponed

The Raw Sounds Youth Music Event planned to be held on Saturday April 17 was postponed as a result of the predicted poor weather. The decisions ended up being a good one with some massive down pours taking place on Saturday. A new date will announced soon!

The Drink Safe Coalition sucessfully received $2000 from the Department of Communities to hold a live music and movie event on the Sunshine Coast in national Youth week.
Drink Safe are partnering with Lifeline and the Sunshine Coast Regional Council to provide a number of events, workshops, and activities in National Youth Week. Keep checking the Whats On calendar to see whats happening!
Music from Summer of Sound artists!

Some of the winners of the Summer of Sound have been busy using their recording package prize to record some fresh new music! We look forward to hearing the finished products!
A big thanks go to Dave Harper at Vault Recordings and Brett Gadene from M.A.S.C. for mentoring the bands through the recording process.

Drink Safe No Regrets Summer of Sound Youth Battle

The Drink Safe No Regrets Summer of Sound Youth Battle 2009/10 was a great success! It was by young people, for young people and ran across the Coast providing alcohol free entertainment all Summer!
Summer of Sound gave 16 young local bands the opportunity to play 12 hours of live music to more than 600 local youth over 8 weeks at 4 Sunshine Coast locations!
17 young volunteers, 13 business sponsors and 7 staff from local organisations made the Summer of Sound Youth Battle the number 1 youth event on the Sunshine Coast!

Planning has already begun for the 2010/11 Drink Safe No Regrets Summer of Sound Youth Battle.

School Holiday Activities

School Holiday activities were on offer to Sunshine Coast young people (12 – 25) over the September and Summer school holidays. A big thanks go to Energy to You! Boxercise and Yoga NRG for providing discounted Boxercise and Yoga for Sunshine Coast Young People.
