The Future Leaders Program

Future Leaders is an exciting and innovative project developed by the Sunshine Coast Youth Partnership with the support of Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

Future Leaders aims to create connections between young people (17 – 29 years) and Community, Government and Business leaders to share wisdom and broaden horizons. Participants will develop their leadership and project management skills with a view to achieving career development and success. At the completion of the eight-month program, the Future Leaders will have developed a detailed career plan, coordinated a community service youth project and developed their skills and expertise in leadership and event management.

Chris Raine a 2006 Future Leader says,

"It's funny how things come round full circle. I first got involved with the SCYP when I was a part of their Future Leaders Program in 2007. I really can't give enough credit to this program for really giving me a leg-up in my career and confidence. In retrospect, looking at the person I have become as a result of the FL program and other courses that I did when I was that age, I think organisations like SCYP that provide that type of education and opportunity to grow are essential for the future of Australia. I never thought that I would now be at a point that I want to give back to the youth community in the same way but I can see how much of a deep resonance the FL program has had on me and that is exactly what I want to do now."
