Sunshine Coast Youth Summit
Sunshine Coast Youth Summit (SCYS)
The Sunshine Coast Youth Summit is an annual one day event organised by young people for young people, in collaboration with the Sunshine Coast Youth Partnership, Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE, Sunshine Coast Regional Council and other sponsors and supporters.
The Summit provides 60 Sunshine Coast young people aged 15 to 24 with an opportunity to be heard and be a part of the solution to issues we face as a community today, for a brighter tomorrow.
The topics for the day are determined by a coast wide survey of young people and in 2009 included:
- Substances and Mental Health
- Education and Employment
- Accommodation
- Personal Safety
This event is organised to inspire and empower Sunshine Coast young people in discussing and developing solutions to issues they identify as important within their community and be heard by local, State and Federal decision-makers and service providers.
